Roy G. “Rooster” Carson, 65, of Hernando, passed away March 1, 2013, at VA Medical Center Memphis. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, and funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, all at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Interment will be in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Carson served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and he was an avid crappie fisherman. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and the greatest joy in his life was his grandchildren. Mr. Carson is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jackie Carson: 2 sons, Brooks (Amy) Carson and Stephen (Minnie) Smith; 3 grandchildren, Colton Carson, Samantha Smith, and Olivia Carson; and 3 siblings, Russell Carson, Dorothy Barham, and Sara Scholler.
