Robert Nelson “Pete” “Bob” Meredith, 91, from Olive Branch, MS, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, October 25, at 12:32 AM. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lucille Willhite Meredith, two grandchildren, his parents and four siblings. Pete is survived by his wife of 22 years, Loretta Smith Meredith, children: David Meredith (Karen) Byhalia, MS, June Derryberry (Mallory) Bryant, AR, Sheila Lucius (David) Toone, TN and Jane Robbins (Tom) Lakeland, TN. He also leaves 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pete was born in Thyatira, MS and grew up in Independence. He joined the Army in 1953. Following the Army, he worked at Stratten Warren Co. and Moore and Sons in Memphis. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and Ole Miss Football. He was always ready with a joke. He was a gentle soul who loved Jesus and his family. Everyone who met Pete loved him and he never met a stranger. He was a member and Deacon of Southmoor Baptist Church for many years and most recently, a member of Longview Heights Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 12:30 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654.
