Maude Ann Carruth, affectionately known as WAM (Weird Aunt Maude), 75, of Olive Branch, MS passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 11, 2024. WAM was born on October 16, 1948 in Sevierville, TN to the late Francis and Sybil Ethier. She grew up in Chestnut Hill, TN and loved growing up with her cousin in their small town. At 16 years old, she enrolled at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She bled UT orange and enjoyed watching all of their sporting events and any other SEC sports that were televised. She also loved Duke Blue Devils basketball. She retired from FedEx where she worked in Human Resources. In her free time, she enjoyed sailing with her husband, Layne, sister-in-law, Leta, and her nieces and nephews in the British Virgin Islands. WAM was a unique character and was a strong, independent woman. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Layne Carruth. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Leta Carruth; brother-in-law, Mark Carruth; brother-in-law, David Carruth; niece, Lindley Francoeur (Paul) and her daughter, Tinsley Ann; niece, Laura Condry and her children: Connor, Quinn, and Jamie; nephew, Graydon Carruth (Lane); nephew, Adam Carruth; cousin, Camille Wheeler (Ronny); and her two beloved basset hounds that she adored, Oliver and Henry. WAM will be dearly missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or All Animal Hospital of Olive Branch.
