John Elwood Jarvis, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Mississippi Veteran’s Home in Oxford, MS. He was born on November 22, 1941 to the Late James John and Henrietta Elizabeth Jarvis in Port Chester, NY. John was a retired Master Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy. He served on six ships, received multiple awards and medals before retiring. John was a communicate of Christ the King Catholic Church and Queen of Peace. John was a member of the Night of Columbus. He also was an avid golfer, Atlanta Braves and New York Yankee Baseball Fan, and loved his two dogs. John was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Jane Jarvis; parents, John and Henrietta Jarvis; two siblings, Harrietta and Nicholas. He leaves behind two siblings, Judy Unmacht, and Jimmy Jarvis Jr., and a host of nieces and nephews. An inurnment at West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery will be at a later date.
