Eddie and I enjoyed every visit at your house.  Eddie loved his funny jokes.
He had such a beautiful smile and we miss him so much. Granddaddy and Grandmother, this is what our Kasey always called you guys.  She would never let us say Mr Joe or Miss Maurie.

The death of my brother Joe has left a deep void and much sorrow in my heart. Joe was the oldest of four children in our family and the one that could remember so much of our early childhood and kept it alive in our minds as the years passed by telling us the adventures of our family both good and bad. Joe was also the one who kept in touch with our cousins, uncles,aunts and spent time on the phone(mostly on the week end) just to stay in touch. He was responsible for the Pusser Family reunion each year for several years. Yes, Joe you will be missed by all of your family and the memories death can't steel from us. We are now looking forward to that day when we will all join you in heaven and sing around that golden throne with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Rest In Peace,    Your sister, Shirley


I  can't remember a time when Uncle Joe wasen't a big part of our lives. We always looked forward to visiting with him if here or there. I don't think anyone that ever met him could ever forget his warmth and the way he cared for people, not just some people, all people, great or small, rich or poor, black or white. He was a person you just wanted to know and enjoy his humor. Something I will never forget is the way he loved my mother, they were such good friends and he could make her laugh and have fun like no other person could, and I loved him for that. I love you so much Aunt Maurie, and rest in God's eternal peace and love Uncle Joe.

We came to know Grandmother and Grandaddy when their granddaughter, Mindy, married our Son, David.  Before we ever met, they sent homemade pear preserves to us.  Mindy talked about her Grandaddy every time she was around us.  We met Granddaddy at their reception and he was the first one to come up and greet us when we got there.  After being around him that night it was easy to trace this family's closeness back through each generation right back to Grandmother and Granddaddy.  He made us feel like part if his family every time we were there.  Then the babies came, Jacob, Amberlee, and Mason.  I can remember one Sunday visiting at New Prospect Baptist sitting on the back row beside Granddaddy and seeing him get in trouble for making faces at Jacob on the row in front if him.  It made my heart smile and I was so grateful that my grandchildren had his influence and love, even for only a short time.  In their hearts I know they will never forget him.  And I look back and see the same influence in Mindy and in down to Deborah.  I know you are hurting and I hurt for you.  I was in a store the other day and saw a plaque that said "In 100 years it will not matter what kind of house I lived in, what my job was, or how much money I had.  All that matters is that I made the difference in the life of a child". And he sure did.

Joe, my only brother, I could not have asked for a better brother. We miss you but you have left us with great memories. We will not meet again here on earth but what a comfort to know that you are walking hand and hand with God and singing with the angels. We have the assurance that soon we will meet again on that beautiful shore. Thank you Jesus!

Thought about a devotional that made me think of Joe.  When the sun finally drops below the horizon in the early evening, evidence of its work remains for some time. The skies continue to glow for a full hour after its departure. Daddy, when I read this, I could hear your voice telling me these things. I know that you wouldn't want me to be so sad and you would want me to continue where you left off. How blessed our lives were by having known Joe. His smile and love of life were contagious.  He was certainly an example to all the way he lived each day of his life for Christ. I never had the chance to spend anytime with Mr. Joe but I know what a fine man he was thru his granddaughter Mindy, whom our family has had the privilege of having in our family. Grandaddy, I can't find words to get out how bad my heart misses you...I can't find the right words to say how I just wish we could have had you here with us a while longer...Amberlee adored you, just like I did, and she remembers what you told her the last time she saw you in the hospital...we ask her everyday hoping she will never ever forget...

I know God has a plan, but I just wasn't ready to tell you goodbye.  I know I'll see you again one day, but that seems so far away, and I already miss you so very much...
I moved back to MS because I wanted Amberlee to know you and Grandmother, and because I missed y'all so all the time...but 
the last 5 months went by too fast, and I want just one day or moment back, I want to hug you again and hear you laugh, I want to walk in your house and you jump out and scare me....I don't want to have a Christmas without you...I wish I could take away this hole we all have without you here...I wish I could make Grandmother feel better, and mom...They just can't smile like they used to...I know they are hurting and missing you so bad, we all do, and we feel so empty when you aren't walking in the door or sitting in the chair napping :-) You touched so many lives and hearts, You always made us laugh every time you were near, even times you weren't  :-) ...We know you loved us and we know you knew how much we loved you...we just didn't ever want you to leave us...
But I know all of this is selfish...I wouldn't ever want take you from the happiness and joy you are experiencing and enjoying right now...the loved ones you have reunited with, sitting, chatting, worshiping, singing,and dancing...that's what keeps me going...it's what I have to hold on to...I know you are happy and perfect again and I'm so glad!!
I will never forget how much you meant to me and you always will!!! I love and miss you Grandaddy!!

The very first time I ever met Mr. Plunk was at the 50 year wedding anniversary. Ya'll were like to little kids that day, laughing and having such a good time will all the guest that came. He was such a sweet and gentle man. Charlie had know him lots more years than me since he and Deborah went to school together and lived in the same neighborhood. He will be greatly missed but he will be looking down on you.

Joe "Granddaddy" was a great man, with a big smile and huge heart.  He was so full of love and laughter!  He was a great example of a Godly husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather!  We are all so blessed by his time with us on earth.  Praying for Maurie, Big Mama & Travis, Mindy & Misty, & babies during this difficult time. Though I never met Mr. Joe, I feel I knew him because of my friendship with his daughter, Deborah. Joe Neal was my grandfather's favorite nephew. My grandfather, Joseph Howard Purser, died in February. I can just see those two Joe's having a grand old time together in Heaven right now! They probably have Jesus laughing out loud!

I keep telling people that God didn't ask my opinion about taking you home. If he would've, you know I would have chosen to keep you here. I never realized until you left, how often I talk about you and Grandmother every day. I share funny stories and memories and even pearls of wisdom. I hope that I can continue to grow in your likeness; your love, kindness, gentleness, the list could go on and on. You always made sure I knew how proud you were of me. My greatest accomplishments were the only 2 people you loved more than me; your GREATgrands! They miss you and still point at your pictures around the house and say Granddaddy! Jacob tells us that he is sad that you can't be with Grandmother anymore, but he knows you are living in heaven with Baby Jesus. Through all of this, I have been reminded "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thessalonians 5:18. It was God's will that you were only with us for the time you were, but we have the promise that we will be together again! For that, I thank Him! You are gone, but not forgotten!! We love you 'hundred fifty thousand!' ;)

We were blessed when we met Joe And Maurie this year.We will miss his humor, the twinkle in is eyes and the smile he always had on his face when he entered the room. We love to hear him and Maurie sing. Life on this earth is like a vapor but we have the assurance that we as christians can spend eternity together in heaven. Thank you Jesus for making that possible.

Joe Neal was a great man! Everytime I saw him, he always had a "story" about me & Bobbie (my twin sister) when we were younger (except he couldn't tell us apart then or now) :-)  . I'll miss running into him at Wal-mart too. You were loved Joe Neal!

Maurie so sorry to learn of Joe Neal's death, but I can't keep from thinking about the two of you singing and looking so sweet at each other and laughing at New Church back in the summer! You both looked so well and happy! God bless you in this difficult time!

It was great to have known Joe.  He was a wounderful neighbor, always greeting with a smile and a handshake, I looked forward to our driveway talks, I will miss him.

What a wonderful neighbor Mr. Plunk has been to my wife and me for the last five years. Mr. Plunk was more than a neighbor, he was our friend.
Many lively conversations we had out in the front yard and down near the mailbox.

Mr. Plunk and family lived directly behind me in 1954, Charjean neighbor. On a very cold Christmas Eve he saw my father, Russell Walters, trying to put up a swing set. He jumped the fence and helped my Dad. My father almost every Christmas Eve told the story about his wonderful neighbor, Joe Plunk. My sincere sympathy.
