James Edward Watkins, 61 years old, retired roofer, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He was born on March 23, 1962, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN, to Evelyn “Marie” Watkins & W.P. “Willie” Watkins of Olive Branch, MS. Edward was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Allan Watkins and Bobby Watkins. He is survived by his two sisters, Nita Peyton (Tony) and Bettye Perron (Gary) who were his care givers; a brother, Gary Watkins (Angie), who was also a caregiver; a brother, Billy Watkins (Pat) of Olive Branch, and three sisters: Joyce Keel (Cas) of Laws Hill, MS, Renee Scott (Ralph) of Burnsville, MS, and Gail Jones (Larry) of Byhalia, MS. Mr. Watkins also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. We wish to give a Special Thank You to his niece, Julie Peyton McLarty of Olive Branch, MS, who helped with her uncle’s care while in hospice. Edward enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting pool, cookouts, and hanging out with friends. A graveside service for immediate family and close friends of Edward will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Bethel Cemetery, 3810 Bethel Rd, Olive Branch, MS 38654.
