On Sunday, December 8, at 2:42 AM, Jack Rodgers Pruitt, at the age of 88, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side along with very dear friends, LeRoy and Dee Ann Scheurer, at The Arbors at Olive Grove Terrace Senior Living facility in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Though he struggled with complications of Alzheimer’s, his faith and through the prayers of his family and many friends, he has entered the gates of heaven to begin his reign with Christ forevermore. Jack Rodgers Pruitt was born May 18, 1931, in Vilonia, Arkansas, to Jesse and Mary Pruitt. He was a loving father and husband. He was a pastor for fifty years in the Church of God of Prophecy. He also served in the Korean War from 1949 to 1953 where he received many medals. Jack traveled to several countries, serving his church, his country and for pleasure. He has been married to his wife, Thelma, for twenty-nine years. He is survived by his wife, Thelma, three children and two sisters: Ruth Stevens and Faye Pittman and a host of nieces and nephews. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Mary Pruitt, five brothers: Raymond, Kenneth, Robert, Dykes and Leonard. Jack always loved and cared for other people and was loved and respected by those whom he pastored during his ministry and by numerous friends. Jack continued his ministry at The Arbors Senior Living Facility. He was asked to lead in prayers and gave his last message to his caretakers and fellow clients. He was fondly referred to as “Pastor Jack.” Now he is in the care of his Heavenly Father. And I’m sure Jack was greeted by his Lord with “Well done, thou good and faithful servant…enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm at Grace Abundant, 9239 E Holmes Rd. Collierville, TN 38017.
