He was a loving father, grandfather, son, and family man. He loved sweet tea, all animals, and spending time with loved ones. He was a hardworking man and loved his job working as a pharmacy technician at MedCo in Cordova, Tenn. Howard was a proud American and served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.
Howard’s favorite pastimes were fishing, gardening, painting, wood carving, and rock collecting. His mother, Jonnie, reminisced about his love of collecting rocks. This hobby began at an early age and continued into his adult life. As a child, he had collected many rocks and put them all in the bottom drawer of his dresser. He broke out the bottom of that dresser drawer due to him storing so many rocks in there.
His love and care of animals also began at an early age, and he carried this love throughout his life. He would often travel to Audubon, Ark. (in the Little Rock area) for bird watching and eventually became a volunteer there. One of Audubon’s tag lines is, “Where birds thrive, people prosper.” Howard prospered when bird watching and taking care of the birds there.
Howard was known for loving others and taking care of people in their time of need. Serendipitously, his mother is receiving a cornea transplant, while Howard’s corneas are being donated to someone in need. Even in death, he is helping those in need by being an organ donor.
He was a spiritual person in life and was a member of Compel Church in Olive Branch, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his father, Percy, and his son, Stephen George. Howard is survived by two children, Melissa and Chris (Jackie) George; his mother, Jonnie George; Kathy Shelton Martin, mother of his children; and his four brothers, David (Enya) George, Gary (Carla) George, Charles (Sharen) George, and Danny McDowell. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Ellisti and Aiden George.
