Henry Jackson Sylvester Jr.

Henry J. Sylvester, passed away November 21 2023, in his sleep at 91 years old. He was retired Air Force and HUD. Henry was an elder at the Olive Branch Church of Christ until 2007 and remained a member.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry J. Sylvester, and Mary Oberia Tate Sylvester; a sister Elizabeth Ann Mieke; his first wife, Carolyn Lawanta Moody Sylvester; second wife, Doris Gene Ballentine Sylvester.

Henry is survived by two daughters, Deborah McWhorter (James) of Greenfield, Indiana and Karen Woods (Barney) of Senatobia, Mississippi. There were 5 grandchildren: Matt McWhorter, Marcus McWhorter, Cody Woods, Nathan Woods and Jared Woods;12 great grandchildren: Meagan Holder, Walker McWhorter, Emily Waddell, Baily Woods, Hannah Woods, Garrett Woods, Gage Woods, Gavin Woods, Jackson Woods, Macy Woods, Hadleigh Woods and Hudson Woods, and 5 great great grandchildren: Ella Woods, Lilah Woods, Mira Smith, Leanna Ramsey and Zachary Holder.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119.
