Olive Branch - Ernest William McLellan V, “Will” 23, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, passed away of sudden heart complications on April 15, 2013. He was born in Oxford, Mississippi on April 19, 1989 to the loving parents of Kay Alford and Ernest McLellan IV. Will graduated from Olive Branch High School in 2007. He resided in Starkville, MS where he graduated from Mississippi State University and was in the Masters in Business Administration, due to graduate this summer. Will was a past member and participant in the ROTC, as well as the National Guard. He was a dedicated player for the MSU Lacrosse team and had been active in the Baptist Student Union, two areas where he made lifelong friends. He spent one Christmas in China on a mission trip with MSU, and still remains in contact with those that he met there. Will had a deep love for people and a passion for new life experiences. He spent the summer in New York City two years ago participating in an internship at Grandstand Sports Marketing, and still works for them on a part time basis. Those employees and friends that he made in NYC still hold a warm place in his heart. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and beloved girlfriend, Kayla Collins. He was treasured and adored by all. Will’s Christian faith was strong, and his beliefs were firm. He knew where he was going, and we are all assured of where he is today. Will is survived by his parents: Kay and Randall Alford, of Olive Branch, MS and Ernest and Tonda McLellan, of Vicksburg, MS. He is also survived by one sister: Courtney Jackson Clayton of Olive Branch, MS; and two step-sisters: Alecia Mathis and Shelby Nutt. He has one niece, Kaylee Ballard and two nephews, Jonathan Clayton and Braydan Ballard, who were the lights of his life. He is the grandson to Martha Matlock and the late Francis Matlock, as well as Peggy McLellan and the late Ernest McLellan III. The visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday with burial following at Autumn Woods Memorial Park. After the burial, balloons will be released and cowbells will be rung. If you have one, please bring it and participate in the celebration of Will’s life.
