Betty Jean Hellums, 51, of Olive Branch, went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2011. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, and funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, all at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Midtown Cemetery. For many years, Betty was a Certified Professional Secretary in the Office of Admissions at the University of Memphis, and she was a longtime member of Cherry Road Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Prentiss and Lucy Hellums. Betty is survived by her brother James Earl “Jim” Hellums (Karen); her aunt, Eula Kent; her nephew, Andrew Hellums; her niece, Elena Hellums; and her faithful little dog, Smokey.
