Archie was preceded in death by his father, Archie Lee Strickland, Sr.; mother, Clemmie Howe Strickland; sister, Joy Smith (Harold); sister, Myrna Smith (J.E.); daughter-in-law, Brenda Jenkins, and great-granddaughter, Charlotte Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margie Strickland; children: Donna Gayle Bibisi (Eddie) of Loveland, OH; Diane Stroupe (Butch) of Perdido Key, FL; Tracy Strickland (Judy) of Southaven, MS; Carol Van Dress of Medina, OH; and Glenda Coleman (Craig) of Southaven, MS; step-children, Jeff Jenkins and Pamela Jane Jenkins both of Olive Branch, MS; grandchildren: Andrew Jenkins (Natalie), Rachel Hendrix (Hayden), Anna Parke (Jake), Sarah Jenkins, Alex and Evan Bibisi, Erika Mathis, Amanda King (Doug), Sarah Van Dress, Hayden Coleman, Wendy Greer (Brandel), and Zac Coleman (Katie); and great-grandchildren: Adelaide, Benjamin, Levi, Cieara, Victoria, Ernest, Marvin, Isaac, Chance, Lelyn, Landyn, and Branton.
Archie served our country in the United States Navy from 1952-1956 in active duty during the Korean War and from 1956-1960 in the reserves. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. In his free time, he enjoyed playing guitar, going bowling, and gardening. He also loved watching sports, especially St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, Memphis Tiger Basketball, and the Manning boys playing football. He coached little league baseball in his younger years as well.
He was a believer in Jesus Christ and an active member of Hope Baptist Church in Olive Branch where he taught Sunday School and sang on special occasions. One of his greatest joys in life was being “Pappaw” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Hope Baptist Church (6800 Center Hill Rd., Olive Branch, MS 38654) on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11am-12pm with a funeral service to begin at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Autumn Woods Memorial Park in Olive Branch, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hope Baptist Church Building Fund in his honor.
