Adrian Wallace “Burl” Ives, 78, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 surrounded by his family. Burl was born in Quitman, GA. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he met his wife of 55 years. He served in the Tennessee Air National Guard for 19 years, and he retired from the Memphis Fire Department after 28 years of service. In his younger years Burl loved to fish and hunt. As he got older, he enjoyed watching golf, gardening and crossword puzzles. Burl was a devoted husband, and a loving father. He was a man of his word and he lived his life with honesty and integrity. He will be deeply missed. Burl leaves his wife, Ursula Ives; one daughter, Jennifer Ives Epps; four brothers, Von Ives, Fred Ives, Lee Burton Ives, Randy Ives; two sisters, Alma Lewis and Marla Kay Maddox. He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Eugene Ives and his mother Katie Louise Ives. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 3, 2017 from 9am until the funeral service begins at 10am, all at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch. Interment will take place at a later date at West Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society by visiting www.cancer.org.
