Walter served in the Army during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he became a Maine State Trooper for 20 years. After he retired from the State of Maine, he worked in the Great Northern division as Deputy Sheriff for 13 years.
Walter enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and going to camp at Sysladobsis Lake. Walter was a member of Star in the East #60 Masonic Lodge, the Shrine Mini bike unit for over 20 years, Served as the town of Alton’s Constable, the Captain of Alton fire department, former school board member and former animal control officer.
Walter is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dolores (Breton) Eugley; his six children, Karen and her husband, Kevin Chase, Raymond and his wife, Judith Eugley, Paul and his wife, Anne Eugley, Reginald and his wife, Julie Eugley, Sandy and her husband, Earle Boobar and Judith Eugley; his grandchildren, Jason, Brenda, Raymond II, Joshua, Richard, Jennifer, David, Rachel, Matthew, Danyle, Randi, Kolby and Justin and 15 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by his brother, Freeman; sister, Beatrice and his granddaughter, Randi Boobar.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10am at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St. Old Town, Maine. Immediately following services, interment will take place at Alton Cemetery, Alton, Maine.
