OLD TOWN—Virginia Hilda Taylor, 83, died peacefully January 23, 2013 at a Bangor health care facility with her family by her side. She was born February 3, 1929 at her beloved Pine street, Old Town home where she lived her entire life. She was a daughter of Charles and Rose M. (Cyr) Taylor. Ginny, as she was known by her many friends, worked at the F. W. Woolworth Co in Old Town for many years. She then was employed for many years at the bookstore at the University of Maine until her retirement. She loved the bookstore and her many friends there. Following retirement, she volunteered at the Meadows assisted living center and the Holy Family Church food cupboard. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Old Town Senior Citizens. Gina, to her family, was predeceased by her parents, and siblings and their spouses: Martha and William LaFlamme, Franklin and Hilda Taylor, Rudolph and Winnie Taylor, Norman Taylor, Priscilla and John Grenier, nephews James LaFlamme and his wife Christine, Galen LaFlamme, and Scott Taylor.
She is survived by sister-in-law Olive Taylor, nieces and nephews William and Sharon LaFlamme, Priscilla LaFlamme, Edward and Gail Taylor, Stuart and Rosalie Taylor, Bonny Alley, Eileen St. Louis, Shirley and Ron Austin, Carol and Sam Cronkite, Charles and Kathy Taylor, Robert and Leslie Grenier, Rick Grenier, and Paul Grenier; many great nieces and great nephews and cousins. The family wishes to extend a warm heartfelt thank you to the staff of Westgate Manor for their compassionate care and love extended to Virginia and the support provided to the family. Friends may call 6-8PM Friday at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Saturday at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Spring burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately following the service, all are invited to the Parish Center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
