Old Town – Seth L. Adams, Sr., 88, died on August 27, 2010 at a health care facility in Howland. He was born in Madison, ME on March 18, 1922, the son of Wilfred and Bessie (Dow) Adams.
Seth and his family moved to Argyle in 1927 to care for his maternal grandmother, Julia Waterhouse Dow Sandborn. He graduated from Old Town High School, the class of 1939. In 1940, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps until 1945. He attended the airplane and engine school in Chicago, IL. After his graduation, he served in the air offensive in Southwest Pacific, where he attained the rank of Master Sargent. In 1946, Seth began his employment with Penobscot Chemical Fiber-Great Works in Old Town and learned many different jobs along the way. Seth retired from the James River Corporation as an instrument superintendent in 1984. Seth Adams was a member of the American Legion Post 84 in Orono, he was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 3381 in Old Town, and a life member of the 30th Bombardment Group. Seth and his family enjoyed summer at their camp on Pushaw Pond with their children, grandchildren and special friends, Jan and Bob and their families.
Seth is survived by his wife Catherine Bradford Adams of Old Town and by his 3 sons; his son Seth, Jr. , and his wife Beverly of Orrington, and their 4 children, Debbie Wheeler, and her husband William and their family, Ben, Eric, Seth and Shelby of Orrington, Vickie Merchant and her husband Alan and their family, Mike and Matt of Levant, Roger and his wife Kathy of Hermon and their daughter, Meghan Kidd and her husband Charles of TN, and Wayne and his wife Traci and their family, Miles and Delaney of Orrington; his son David, and his wife Rosemary of Fishers, IN and their 2 daughters, Jessica Sulzen and her husband Brian and their daughter Ainsley of Olathe, KS, and Julie Campanini and her husband Steven and their family, Bella and Ian of Barrington, RI; and his son Nathan of North Las Vegas, NV. Seth is also survived by his three nieces and one nephew.
