OLD TOWN—Robert L. Avery, 89, surrounded by the love of his life and his children, went home to be with his Lord on April 4, 2014 at a Bangor health care facility. He was born April 14, 1924 in Old Town a son of Burns and Margaret (McAuliff) Avery.
Robert was well known in the Old Town area for his work as a woodsman, employee at Lily Tulip Corp., and for his skill in small engine repair. He was a veteran who honorably served in the US Army during WWII. He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Helen (McLaughlin) Avery; five children Peewee Avery and his wife Wanda of Milford, Wayne Avery and his wife Christine of Garland, Roxanne LeRose and her husband Bill of Orrington, Karen Rossbach and her husband Ken of Dedham, and Roger Avery and his wife Patti of Milford; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a brother Francis Avery of Old Town. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Erica Avery, brothers Lloyd and Calvin Avery, and two sisters Phyllis Lozier and Ruby Theriault.
