Robert graduated from Hernando County High School and soon after started working a diverse selection of jobs including working masonry, horse training, and bull dogging.
Robert, being the independent man he was, decided to move to Maine where he started his own construction business. While he built his business up, he worked at Dirigo Pines in Orono under Steve Crotty. Robert had an amazing relationship with Steve and his wife Nancy; they considered each other family. He loved his Dirigo family, and his humorous lifestyle will forever be missed by the cottage residents.
Robert loved enjoying life day by day, and did so by partaking in his favorite activities like bowling, fishing, camping and jamming out to country gold Saturday nights. He will be remembered by his friends and family for his quick-witted humor and the many laughs he shared.
Robert is survived by Steve and Nancy Crotty of Holden and their children Julie and her husband Cory Salvatelli of Franklin Mass. Kate and her husband Bob Baldacci, and their two children Stella and Dylan of Cumberland, and Kelly Crotty "kell bells" of Portland. Robert is also survived by his girlfriend Ronnie Jo Nevells "Blondie", of Old Town, her children Tyler, Caleb, and Seth Eddy, and the many friends of Dirigo Pines.
Robert will be remembered through the unconditional love of Ronnie Jo Nevells. She holds the saying "As you wish baby" close to her heart as she keeps the memories of Robert thriving.
A gathering to celebrate Robert's life will be held at Dirigo Pines Inn, Kenduskeag Gathering Place 9 Alumni Drive, Orono, on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 2-5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in support of Ronnie Jo Nevells, 72 Oak St. Old Town 04468 to help with funeral expenses.
