She graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1934 and then attended the Maine School of Commerce. In her younger years she worked at Bangor Health and Human Services. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at the East Millinocket Congregational Church, a girl scout leader, and taught at the Katahdin School in East Millinocket for 14 years. She enjoyed many years at Ambajejus Lake and living at Pushaw Lake for 25 years, and traveling with her husband.
She is survived by two sons Carl Cook and his wife Joann of Canaan; Ronald Cook and his wife Nok of MD; two grandchildren Robyn Dart of NM, and Kanin Cook of MD; two step-grandchildren James Connaughton of MA and Michael Connaughton of TN; seven great grandchildren Victoria, Buddy, Sean, Bryan, Amanda, Missy, and Alicia; seven great great grandchildren Addy, Bryan, Damien, Brigette, Abby, Savannah, and Emma; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Walter S. Cook Jr. in 2006; daughter Paula Downs; two brothers Edmond and Charles and an infant sister.
A graveside service at Alton Cemetery will be announced in the spring.
