Hampden-- Lisa (Caron) Melanson, 58, died peacefully at home on January 30, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born July 7, 1964 in Milo, ME to Eugene “Sonny” and Wilma “Billie” (Connaughton) Caron.
Lisa will be remembered fondly for her love and devotion to her family, especially her granddaughter, Brianna. Lisa enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was an avid fan of most genres of music and enjoyed going to concerts. Lisa was also an avid New England sports fan and always kept her friends updated with scores and comments to the different games whether it be baseball, football, or hockey. Lisa also enjoyed an annual trip to Loudon, NH for the NASCAR races with some of her dear friends. In addition to music and sports, Lisa also loved to go on cruises to escape the Maine winters for the warm sun of the Caribbean and cold margaritas.
Lisa also had a soft spot in her heart for homeless people in the area, donating money and goods to support the mission of Hope for Homeless. Lisa graduated from Beal College as a medical assistant in 1984. She continued her education at Northern Maine Vocation Technical School, graduating in 1987 as an LPN. After a break to get married and start a family, Lisa went back to school at Eastern Maine Technical College from which she graduated in 1996 with an Associate of Science degree in nursing leading to her becoming a registered nurse. As a member of the healthcare system, Lisa’s work history included a brief employment at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover Foxcroft before moving to the Bangor area where she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Maine Veterans’ Home and Brewer Rehab and Living Center. Lisa finished her career as a Clinical Evaluator for National Health Care.
Lisa is survived by her husband of 34 years, John A. Melanson; two children, son, Bradley Melanson, daughter, Kristi Melanson; granddaughter, Brianna Doray; mother, Billie Caron; brother, Tim Caron; brothers-in-law, Wayne Melanson, and Gary Melanson and wife, Janice; nephew, Michael Melanson, niece, Marisa Melanson, several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Sonny Caron; mother-in-law, Doris Melanson and sister-in-law, Sr. Diane Melanson.
Friends may call 5:30 to 7:30 PM Friday, February 10, 2023 at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, February 11 at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town and will be live-streamed at https://youtube.com/@resurrectionparish338. Spring interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately following the funeral mass, all are invited to the Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
