Lillian Rose Moore

OLD TOWN - Lillian Rose Moore, 84, wife of the late Alton L. Moore, died July 17, 2012, at an Orono health care facility. She was born March 23, 1928, in Old Town, a daughter of Francis Leon and Anna Bernice (Madore) King. Lillian was born, raised and lived her entire life on French Island. She was a graduate of Old Town High School, member of Daughters of Isabella and communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church. Lillian selflessly spent her life caring for others, whether she was babysitting the young or caring for her aging parents and grandparent, she did with such love and compassion. Her family was her focus in life and attended as many events her grandchildren were in as possible. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making doll's clothes. In her later years, she enjoyed the time spent volunteering at Holy Family Thrift Shop. She is survived by four children, Gloria Herrick and husband, Paul, of Guilford, Frances Eldridge of Old Town, David Moore and wife, Judy, of Milford, and Christopher Moore and wife, Emily, of Northport; nine grandchildren, Susan Roberts, Sam Herrick, Steven Herrick, Sharon Gerving, Shannon Smith, Amber Eldridge, Andrew Moore, Jennifer Gallant and Kristen Moore; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria Jacobs and husband, Stan, of Brewer; brother, Maurice King and Susan of Scarborough; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband four years to the day July 17, 2008; sister, Delcina Blaisdell and husband, Gene; and son-in-law, William Eldridge. A Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church, Parish of the Resurrection, 429 Main St., Old Town. Interment will be after at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately after the services all are invited to return to Holy Family Parish Center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
