Milford and Old Town- Joyce C. Lafontaine, 92, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on August 30, 2018. She was born in Milo, on July 19, 1926, the daughter of Maurice and Pauline (Turner) Coiley, and lovingly raised from infancy by her grandparents, Armand and Lottie Thibault.
Joyce graduated from Old Town High School in 1943. After raising her family, Joyce went on to work for the Physics Department and the 4-H office at the University of Maine. She retired as the Administrative Supervisor of ROTC in 1986 after 25 years of employment.
Joyce was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Nothing gave her more pleasure than spending time with her family, and she never missed an opportunity to do just that. She will be greatly missed by her family. The family wishes to thank the staff of Winterberry Heights as well as Beacon Hospice for the utmost care that was shown to Joyce.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Alfred Lafontaine; as well as her parents, her grandparents, her sister, Phyllis Ireland, and her infant son, Jeffrey. She is survived by her son, Michael Lafontaine and his wife, Kathy, of Milford; her daughter, Linda Blanchard and her husband, Bruce, of Holden; as well as her four grandchildren, Eric Blanchard and his wife, Elizabeth, of Wells, Keith Blanchard and his wife, Cynthia, of Dedham, Alan Lafontaine of St. Augustine, FL, and Lori Sullivan and her husband, Casey, of Limerick. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Logan E. Blanchard, Joshua Lafontaine, Charlotte Blanchard, Isla K. Lafontaine, and Jocelyn Lafontaine.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5 - 7 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Catholic Church, with a reception to follow at the Parish Hall. Interment will follow the service at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Old Town.
