Old Town- Harold I “Darky” Thompson, 91, passed away peacefully on May 18th after a brief illness. He was born November 8, 1929 in Old Town a son of Elvin H and Adeline (Ashe)Thompson.
Harold graduated from Old Town High school and served time in the U.S. Army. Harold was known for his strong work ethic. He worked in maintenance at the Orono School Department for more than 35 year and he also owned his own wood processing business. He was always happy and lived each day to the fullest. He traveled and he loved camping. hunting and fishing up to Moosehead Lake where he met many friends. His greatest love was the time spent with his family and he always put them first.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Carol, daughter Debbie, twin brother Gerald, sister June and his first wife Elizabeth J. (Pinkham). He is survived by his sister Elaine Frost and her husband Paul, his 5 children, Cheryl Thompson, Kevin Thompson and his wife Barbara, Christine Peters and her husband Brian, Tammy Sherwood and her husband Mike and Theresa Levesque and her husband Peter, many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews He is also survived by his longtime companion Madelyn Dupuis.
A graveside service will be held 2PM Saturday May 22, 2021 at Riverside Cemetery, 167 Bennoch Road, Orono. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory Cancer Care of Maine 33 Whiting Hill Rd # 21, Brewer, ME 04412
