OLD TOWN – Harold J. Kennedy, 74, died August 4, 2011 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Old Town Feb 11, 1937 a son of Harrison M. and Lovina E. (Adams) Kennedy.
Harold was a very hard worker and really enjoyed working. He retired as a sergeant following 38 years of service from the University of Maine, Department of Public Safety. While at the UMPD, he held various part-time jobs including a contract mail carrier, Brinks Security driver, Bangor Daily News route driver, and worked at Steego Auto Parts. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time at his camp in Greenfield. He served in the Maine Air National Guard from 1955-1962. He served as a Boy Scout leader in Old Town for several years and he volunteered at the Holy Family Food Pantry. Harold really enjoyed helping people.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Prudence (Grant) Kennedy of Old Town; two sons Kurt Kennedy and his wife Anna of Waterboro, Todd Kennedy of Old Town; four grandsons Andrew Kennedy of New Hampshire, Derrick, Dustin, and Dalton Kennedy all of Waterboro; two brothers Edmund Kennedy and his wife Dorothy and Glen Kennedy and his wife Peggy, a sister Janice Madore and her husband Tony all of Greenbush; sister-in-law Peggy Grant of Old Town; 2 uncles Tom and Rita Kennedy of Kenduskeag and John and Arlene Kennedy of Argyle; 5 aunts Liona Speed of Brownville, and Ethel Storman, Eunice Coughlin, Dorothy McLaughlin, and Eva Kennedy all of Old Town; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Harold was predeceased by his parents Harrison and Lovina Kennedy; two sons Eric Gray-Kennedy and Scott Kennedy; a sister Loretta Rumney; his in-laws Anthony and Margaret Grant and brother-in-law Richard Grant.

Friends may call 5-8PM Monday at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main Street Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Tuesday at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Immediately following services at the Cemetery, all are invited to the Parish Center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
