GREENBUSH--Gabrielle Hope Sherman, 18, daughter of Glenwood and Elizabeth Sherman died March 19th, 2019 after a 5 fearless years confronting surgeries, chemo and radiation therapy for a brain tumor. She was born October 9, 2000 in Bangor.
Gabby was known for her beautiful smile and her kind and thoughtful manner - always thinking of someone else first. She was incredibly funny and loved to be silly. Gabby never let her disease define her. She never stopped doing the things she loved to do. Her strength and determination inspired so many.
Gabrielle was very proud of her awards that she achieved over her years. She received the Helen S. Dunn school principal’s award, the Alson Madden Award, the Howard & Grace Adams award. Gabby recently graduated with honors from Old Town High class of 2019. She was a member of the National Honor Society, was very proud to be part of JMG. She recently received the Girl’s Basketball Coyote Award and the Mcdonald’s Spirit of the Game award. Gabby also achieved being the Student of the Month each and every year in school.
In Middle school, she participated in softball, soccer, basketball and school plays. In High school, She did winter cheering. Recently, she was the Girl’s Varsity Basketball manager - she loved the girls and was so proud of them.
Gabby loved her furry friend, Zoe. She loved being at the beach on Moosehead Lake, playing games and cards with her family and friends, shopping, getting her nails done, rides and going out to eat. She also had a love for quotes, one she loved and used often - “Never stop believing in hope, miracles happen everyday.”
She is survived by her parents, brother; Nicholas Sherman, sister and brother in law, Erin and Shon Veino, Nieces; Lauren & Allison Veino and Blakelyn Sherman, Her aunts and uncles; Linda and Phil Northrop, Seth and Nelly Libby, Barbara and Richard Ouellette, Rosemary Libby, Scott Libby, Douglas and Laurie Libby, Edie Sherman and Cindy Leiffer, Eric and Polly Sherman, many special Great Aunts and Uncles, cousins and friends that were a big part of her lof her ife and whom she loved dearly.
Gabby was predeceased by her grandparents, Nana and Papa Libby, Grammie and Grampy Sherman, Cousins; Brent Northrop and Kayla Libby.
A celebration of her life gathering will be 2-6PM Sunday at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town. A funeral service will be conducted 4PM Monday at the Helen S. Dunn School, Military Road, Greenbush, with lifelong friend Pastor Bill Shorey of Hilton Avenue Community Church Columbus, Georgia, officiating. Burial will be later in the spring in Greenville.
