Dylan Marley Bee, age 27, of San Diego, California, passed away at home on Indian Island, Maine on Friday, October 12, 2018. He was born in San Diego, California to Angela Denn and Shado Bee on July 26, 1991. His beautiful soul was stolen and his light extinguished far too soon. If you knew Dylan, you knew that he was, and indeed still is, a beautiful soul whose generosity and compassion affected everyone around him. He brought his California swag after moving to Maine in 1998 and instantly became a trendsetter and introduced his friends to the art of skateboarding. He grew to be a visionary young man. Dylan was a loving husband, father, son, grandson, and brother. He was a solid and true friend to many and his passing has left an enormous void in our hearts. He was a dedicated practitioner of yoga and found solace in meditation. He was a talented writer and musician that looped his own beats. Dylan loved to build and create with his hands and even learned how to knit with his mom. His mind was so smart and beautiful with an entrepreneurial spirit and an appreciation for the scientific method. His philosophical perspective allowed him to acknowledge the weight and complexities of life and his sarcastic humor was pure poetry. He was recently accepted into a competitive electrician apprenticeship in San Diego.
Dylan is survived by his parents Angela and Paul Denn and Shad and Ginnell Bee, wife Kla-Bada Roberson, daughter Astrid Beatrice Bee, sister Mahalia Cheyenne Crite, brothers Paris Ezekiel Bee, Wiley Rogue Bee, Cody Denn and Caleb Denn, grandparents Mary Bisulca Settles, Tim Bee, and Sherry and Tom Lovette, in-laws Bob and Mary Roberson, god-parents Donnie and Melissa McHerron, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his Papa, Alan Settles. Dylan will return to his home in San Diego where a celebration of his life will take place.
We would like to thank every single person who came to call at our Indian Island home. Thank you for your kind words, nourishing meals, and your funny stories and memories of Dylan. We thank our family and friends for tending his sacred fire and for your gifts of traditional medicine. Thank you for your ceremonies and prayers and for bringing your drums, rattles, and songs to help our beloved husband, father, son and brother, Dylan Marley Bee, cross with dignity and grace on his longest walk to the other side.
