Sue Katherine Johnson

Daughter of the late Frank and Sophie Kapanowski, she was born November 3, 1939 in Chicago, IL and attended Loyola University in Chicago. It was in Chicago where she met, and later married her husband Warren. They later settled in Westport where they lived for over 30 years. Sue was a member, and former president of the Westport Young Women’s League.

Later settling in Old Saybrook, Sue enjoyed gardening her roses and tomatoes, spending time with her walking group, and socializing with many friends and neighbors. She was an active member of St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Westbrook. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family and especially being “Mimi” to her adoring grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all.

She is survived by her children Kurt V. Johnson and his wife Karen of Groton, MA, Kristen K. Johnson of New York, NY; two grandchildren Connor and Kellie Johnson of Groton, MA; a brother Frank Kapp and his wife Gail of Collierville, TN, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Westbrook, CT. Calling hours will take place on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd. in Old Saybrook, CT.
