Plyler- Mary Elizabeth McDonnell Plyler- 57 of Old Saybrook died Dec. 30, 2012 at Connecticut Hospice. She was born in West Haven daughter of James and Barbara (Desmond) McDonnell. Mary graduated from Lauralton Hall in Milford in 1973. In 1977 she graduated from UNH with a bachelor’s degree. She taught at Lauralton Hall in Milford from 1977-1981. She was extremely proud of donating her time to tutoring and teaching religious education. Mary loved to garden and play tennis. She is survived by her children, Katherine Alice (Kaillie) Plyler, and Seamus William Plyler both of Old Saybrook, and Rory Elizabeth Plyler of Old Lyme. She also leaves her siblings, James (Deirdre) McDonnell of Alexandria VA, Susan McDonnell (Richard Civitillo) of Branford CT, Janie (Henry) Lewer of Matthews, NC, Nora McDonnell of New Haven CT, and Patricia (Chris) Lewis, of Orange CT. Mary also leaves an aunt, Sr. James Frances (Fran) McDonnell of Blue Point, NY., as well as several aunts and uncles and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a nephew Anthony George Farricelli and her father James McDonnell. Visitation will be Saturday January 5, 2013 from 8:00 -9:30 a.m. at the Swan Funeral Home 1224 Boston Post Road Old Saybrook, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. John’s Church Main Street Old Saybrook.
