

He was born March 1928, in Nadiad, to his parents Surajben and Motibhai Patel. There, he attended secondary school and owned and operated a gift shop. He and Kokila raised their 3 children in Nadiad as well. He moved to the US in 1978 and worked as a machine operator for 25 years in Boston, MA, before retiring to Westbrook, CT.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who cherished spending with his family and reading books. He was a dedicated member of the Santram Mandir Hindu temple. He had a light heart and a gentle and loving nature, He will be most remembered for helping friends and family and for his dedication to the temple.
In addition to his wife Kokila, he is survived and will be dearly missed by:
- Elder son Rajendra and wife Jayshree Patel of Westbrook, CT
- Middle son Shailendra and wife Purna Patel of West Roxbury, MA
- Younger daughter Asmita and husband Mahesh Patel of Scotch Plains, NJ
- Granddaughters: Aarti and Janki Patel
- Grandsons: Ankit, Nirav, and Shivam Patel
The Patel family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Yale-New Haven Neurocritical Care, Palliative Care, and the Connecticut Hospice for their wonderful care and many acts of kindness and support during his illness.
Gordhan Patel’s Service of Remembrance will begin on Wednesday, Nov 4, 2015, at 11:00 am, followed by Cremation per Hindu customs, at the Swan Funeral Home in Old Saybrook, CT.
