Hood and his brother Robert “Bobby” Hood. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda A. Hood, his sister Sandra McFadden of Henderson, NV, daughter Brandi Hood and her partner Lindsey Eberle of Middletown, CT, son Matthew Hood of Westbrook, CT, daughter-in-law Jordana Hood and granddaughters Sandra Hood and Sophia Hood of Goshen, CT, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws & his special chihuahua Dolly.
Dave & Linda were high school sweethearts at Bristol Eastern High School where they graduated in 1966, and then married in Bristol, CT in November 1968. They traveled the country for four years prior to starting their family in Terryville, CT where they settled down for 42 years. Dave was a family man through and through, building go-carts, riding snowmobiles, homegrown ice skating rink and more little league games you can count with two children. Dave and Linda celebrated 52 years of marriage this past November.
Dave began his career as an apprentice in the tool and die department at Wasley Products in Plainville, CT before he even graduated high school. He attended night school after high school while working full time and studied to become a manufacturing engineer. He worked at Wasley for 17 years, briefly went to Plainville Special Tool, then Seitz Corporation in Torrington, CT where he stayed 11 years until he started his own business HMH, Inc. in 1985 with his father & close cousin-in-law. Dave kept a small shop in Terryville where he primarily manufactured orthopedic surgical devices that he holds a few design patents for, tools and small machines. The shop was also a hot spot for game dinners, Busch Lights and stop-ins by his many friends and family.
Dave and Linda moved to Westbrook in March of 2012 and loved boating in their boat(s) No Regrets. They took many trips to Mystic, Montauk and Block Island and overall enjoyed being on Long Island Sound. They traveled to St. Maarten every year for over 30 years with several close friends which he cherished. He was an Elk in Torrington and recently transferred his membership to Westbrook Elks where they frequented for dinner weekly along with several other local establishments with their best friends Patti & Charlie. Dave loved to dance, sing (even though he couldn’t carry a tune) and was always the life of the party. He was friends with everyone he met and was loved by all. Dave was best friends to his kids, the best hugger and listener and completely adored his wife Linda, just ask him he’d tell you all about her! He will truly be missed.
The calling hours will be Saturday, December 12, 2020 from 1pm - 4pm at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, CT.
