Edgar was born on November 17, 1932 in Ludlow Vermont to Earl Morgan and Irene Jewett Morgan. They worked on dairy farms, in Vermont, for most of their lives. Edgar could tell wonderful stories about his youth in Vermont, helping with the chores on the farm square dancing with friends, and his one-room school house.
He graduated from high school in Vermont and then entered the workforce. Edgar was a machinist for United Nuclear prior to his retirement. Edgar was a lifelong resident of New England. He married Louise on July 5th, 1957 and they made Fawn Hill Drive in Westbrook, Connecticut their home for the next 51 years. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished time spent with family.
He was very committed to his youngest son, Edward, born with Down Syndrome. Edgar loved everything with wheels. He once owned a 1932 Buick Roadster. He loved muscle cars, big trucks, motorcycles, old tractors and his favorite BMW Z3. He enjoyed country fairs and bluegrass festivals. He would sit and listen to the music, eating his fudge ripple ice cream cone, for hours. Edgar and his wife, Louise, loved RVing together. They cover the country, from Vermont to Texas and Vancouver. They spent time in Tennessee, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone Park, and Branson, Missouri. Every year was a new adventure after Edgar retired. Later in life Edgar enjoyed lunch at the local senior centers. He made many friends there. He loved playing cards, dominoes and rummikub with them.
Edgar was one of five siblings that preceded him in death. His older brother, Ralph Morgan, his two sisters; Marion Morgan Flores and Audrey Morgan Slomka and his youngest brother Richard Morgan. He loved them all dearly and was heartbroken when he lost them.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by: His son Michael Edgar Morgan and his wife Caroline Ryan Morgan of Chester Vermont. His daughter Lisa Rose Morgan and her husband Jeffrey Mark Howard of Gloucester Massachusetts. His son Edward Earl Morgan of Clinton Connecticut. Edgar had three beautiful granddaughters that he loved and cherished; Alexandra Morgan of Massachusetts, Michaela Morgan of Chicago and Audrey Morgan of Arizona. Edgar is survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. They reside all over the country; from Vermont and down the Eastern Sea Coast across the country to Vancouver and as far away as Italy.
Edgar’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff at Aaron Manor and the Hospice Staff of Middlesex Health for their wonderful care. Friends are welcome to gather with the family immediately following the burial at the Westbrook Elks Lodge, 142 Seaside Ave., Westbrook, CT 06498.
