Carol Anne Sullivan, 73 of Old Saybrook passed away unexpectedly with her loving family by her side on March 17, 2019. Carol was born on October 24, 1945 to Anne Bates (Dorman) Atherton and Albert Atherton in Glenridge, NJ where she grew up, met and married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Sullivan.
They moved to Old Lyme and eventually relocated to Old Saybrook where they raised their three daughters. Carol worked for Structural Graphics for 30+ years as their assembly and production manager. She was an avid UCONN fan. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and spending time on Long Island Sound.
Carol was predeceased by her mother, Anne, her father, Albert of Old Saybrook, her brother Tim Atherton of Florida. She is survived by her spouse of 50+ years, Ronald Sullivan of Old Saybrook, daughter Pamela McKiernan, husband, Jason of East Lyme, daughter Penny Sullivan of Old Saybrook, daughter Virginia (Ginger) Burnham, her husband, Stephen Burnham of East Hartford, her 3 grandchildren, Alexis Lockwood of East Hartford, Olivia and Patrick McKiernan of East Lyme, brother, William Atherton and his wife, Anne of Travelers Rest, SC, her sister-in-law Kathy Atherton of Palm City, Florida as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life memorial will be held on September 28th.
