Carol Ann Riccio, 85, born in New Britain CT and longtime resident of Farmington CT, passed away on February 19th, 2023. Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved music, dance, and the arts. She could always be found singing and playing her piano, cooking fresh pasta, or planning her next trip to the Schubert or Oakdale theater. She had a way of creating joy for those around her, with a warm, welcoming home that smelled of homemade waffles in the morning and savory pasta sauce in the evening. Carol loved her large second “Italian” family the Riccio family.
She lived to love her children and their babies. The joy when a new baby was in her arms was palpable and infectious. She will always be remembered singing songs and doodling little pictures of her and ‘Papa’ in the children’s birthday cards. In her final days, she ended each goodbye with “I love you too much.”
Carol is preceded in death by her husband Leonard Riccio, and parents Alfred and Helen Vosney. She is survived by her children Douglas Sandberg and Susan Buonafede, their spouses Yvette Sandberg and Dennis Buonafede, grandchildren Elise and Renee Sandberg, Jessica Qualls (husband Brent Qualls), Jillian Reid (husband Lewis Reid Jr), Jeffrey and Jonathan Buonafede. Along with great-grandchildren Grant and Nathan Qualls and Emily Reid.
To honor Carol, there will be a prayer service and gathering on Monday, March 13th, in New Britain. If you wish to attend, please contact a family member or the New Britain Memorial Funeral Home for details.
