Bruce Hamilton Osborne, born July 8, 1927, died peacefully June 20, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Vera Ricker Osborne and devoted father of Scott Hamilton Osborne. Mr. Osborne was predeceased by his daughter Laurie Margaret Osborne Larson.
Mr. Osborne grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland spending summers in Old Saybrook, Connecticut where he developed what would become a lifelong passion for sailing. He served in the United States Army which fostered his love of travel. Mr. Osborne settled in Old Saybrook, becoming a member of the Elks and of Grace Church where he loved singing in the choir. He enjoyed many other artistic gifts, such as gardening, painting and wood working. Some of his framing projects hang in the Griswold Inn.
Mr. Osborne's professional career was spent as an engineer for Pratt and Whitney. Upon their retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Osborne began wintering in Boynton Beach, Florida where Mr. Osborne delighted in perfecting his golf game. He continued to sing in the choir of St. Joseph's Church there.
In addition to his wife and son, Mr. Osborne leaves his sister Barbara Lyon and her husband Joseph of Chicago, Illinois, his son-in-law Beech Larson of Longwood, Florida, his brother-in-law Linwood Ricker and his wife Charlotte of Tampa, Florida and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who all loved him very much.
Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd. Old Saybrook Sunday June 24, from 2 to 4. Funeral services will be held Monday June 25, at 2pm at the Grace Episcopal Church, Main St. Old Saybrook. Interment will be private in Maine.
