Dear Langley,

I am deeply sorry for your loss.
Janine and I were close friends back in the mid 1990s. We shared a great group of friends that all lived in NYC.  Here nickname was "Ja-knee-knee." There were lots of parties, weddings, Central Park softball games, trips to the beach, dancing anywhere lol, concerts and brunches. It was a blast and I'm glad to have shared those fun days with her.
Janine was always brutally honest and hilariously funny all in one breath...She should have been an attorney or a stand up comedian lol. Yet she could be the warmest heart ever and absolutely undertstanding in any sitaution. Calm, cool and smart. 
As you know, she was a beauty too. I remember when she modelled for Macys and other clothing outlets. Her pics were in the NYTs and on various clothing websites. Yet she was totally humble and never talked about it. Conversely other girls were arrogant and mean. It never changed her one bit.  Classic Janine. I admired that quaility very much. 
By 2000, our gang was diverging on different paths. That included your Mom and I. Sadly we didn't keep in touch much. Then one day we crossed paths and she told me all about you.  Being your Mother made her the happiest version of Janine that I ever saw. 
I hope this brief note warmed your heart a little bit. Be aware there are people all over that loved your Mom and are missing her today. They are all praying for your well being too.

Dear Langley;  We are so deeply saddened by the loss of your mother. The last time we saw you and your Mom you were about 3 years old. So we only knew you through the wonderful photographs your Grandpa Loomis sent over the years. We so much wish we could’ve gotten to see you and your Mom over time. Dearest Langley,

It was with heavy heart that I learned of the recent passing of your mother.  Although it has been sometime since we last spoke, I wanted to offer my deepest condolences to you and your family.  It pains me to know what you are feeling and how somebody who gave so much light to life was taken by such a cruel and sudden death.  I know you planned on making many more memories with Mommy here, but God's plan is for her to guide you from above until you are reunited again.  

Langley, it may be difficult to process right now, but it's important to remind you how much your mother treasured, loved, and cherished you.  You were the endless rainbow in her daily life.  I want to leave you with a memory that your mother left me during a difficult period in my life.  Your mother gave me great comfort after the loss of my father in 2008.  You might have been too young to remember, but you should understand that she was there for me the way loved ones are there for you now and always.

Dearest Langley and Loomie,
I'm sending my deepest condolances on your loss. I can't even imagine how difficult this is for you and your family. I feel loss that  I did not ever get to know you. I only knew Janine a little bit when we met in NYC. I'm attaching photo's my last visit with her. I think actually only visit with her. For some odd reason we never kept in touch. I have been thinking quite a lot lately about how much I have missed out on with other members of my family. I am wishing to make amends for that. Our family is so tiny to begin with. Dear Langley:  I wanted to share some memories of your mom. 

Growing up, Janine was our fourth sister. Though our mom dressed us in matching outfits for fun, Janine always stood out with her blonde hair and big green eyes. As young girls, we marveled at Janine’s natural dance abilities, and we spent hours together putting on ‘shows’ in our basement and backyard. 

My fondest memories of Janine are of endless summers in Northport, washing our hair in the rain, playing on the sandbars and using our imaginations to create our own crazy games. 

As Janine got older and moved to Manhasset, we got to see her in the halls at high school. She, like me, had a terrible ‘picker’ when it came to choosing boyfriends!  But on the flip side, she was wise at choosing girlfriends, like Deanna, who remained close throughout her life. 

I’m happy that Janine got to live and work in the city, with the unfortunate exception of working for the Madoffs, who managed to provide some fairly incredible stories and laughs. While working as a tech liaison at Bear Sterns, Janine met your dad and began a whirlwind romance, what I think of as her Carolyn Bessette Kennedy period. A few years later, it was fun having Janine and Jeff living nearby in Rowayton for a bit. Janine  had a true knack for decorating and creating a warm home. 

Having you was the highlight of your mom’s life, and she was a beautiful mom. After your dad died, she rose to the occasion as a single parent. She loved you fiercely and did her best to raise you on her own in a small community. 

It makes me so sad that your mom will not be there to see you though high school and beyond. 

I hope you will remember how much she loved you. She wanted nothing more than your happiness. 

Please know that your extended family is here for you and would love to stay in touch and watch over you as you finish high school. Please don’t feel shy about reaching out and we will do the same. We love you.

Langley, my other sister. Raised by a wonderful mother who treated me as her own. I will forever miss going out to dinner as a family and the laughs we all had. Janine always had something to say and was hilarious. She was always there when I needed to talk about anything and would listen and give great advice. Never forgotten as she leaves behind a beautiful and amazing  girl who gets it from her momma:) And I am lucky to call her my  best friend. Love you Lang<3

Thank you for always being like a sister to me. I will never forget all of the laughs and good times you your mom and I have shared over the years. I always loved spending the summers with you guys, and having endless sleepovers. Janine would always let us stay in her queen bed, and she would go sleep in yours. She was so good like that. She always made sure we were comfortable and happy. She is forever in our hearts. I love you. ❤️

Dear Mommy, 
 I love you with my whole heart, you still are my everything and motivation. Words cannot express how much I miss you and everyday I crave your hugs and love. I miss talking to you, seeing you, asking for advice, everything. I know I will get through this somehow and with you guiding me from above. God knew you had the biggest heart and couldn’t wait any longer, but I really wish he had. You truly were the best mom and my best friend. Dearest Langley
There are no words of comfort I can offer you to help you with the devastating loss of your Mom, other than to tell you that our family grieves for you. We have such fond memories of you from the time you were a baby, and adored by both of your parents. Your Mom dressed you in the most beautiful clothes, and your father would bathe you every night as a baby. As Inez took care of you, as you grew into a lovely little girl, you spent a lot of time at both of our homes playing with Amber and Felicia. Felicia loved taking you to the barn, where I have so many beautiful photos that I took of you. 
Both your mother and father were friends, and I was so proud of the parenting that your Mom did, as a single mother. We also met and were fond of your grandparents, who I imagine are there with you now. It has been a very long time since I have seen you, but you hold a place in our hearts, and are always welcome to New Canaan, whenever you wish. Stay strong Langley, as I am sure your mother taught you, as I so admired her strength.

the last time I  held you in my lap was at  your Dad's funeral which seems so long ago.   I was not very close with your mom, but I  know what a great mom she was to you, loving, confident of the brilliant girl you are, and enormously happy to have you by her side, always.
