Connie was born October 18, 1934 in White Plains, NY to David and Cecelia Murray. The family moved to Groton where she attended school. Connie was first a homemaker. She then worked in accounting at Hermitage in Niantic and later at Hollis Engineering in New Hampshire. Widowed, she returned to the Groton/New London area where she enjoyed being a ticket agent at Amtrak.
Connie enjoyed painting, sewing, and was an avid gardener. Her preserves were as wonderful as her pies and coffee cakes. Connie was dedicated to her siblings, children and grandchildren, encouraging them to pursue their dreams. She joined in their activities, from family camping to evening theatre, and was always willing to pitch in and help. She accepted religious and spiritual searching with an open heart. Connie loved traveling with her husband and later with her sisters. In her sixties, she even rode an elephant in Thailand, her infectious laughter obvious in the photos.
Connie is predeceased by her beloved husband, Bernard C. McTigue. She is survived by her children, Bernard McTigue of Waterford, Vickie McTigue Cotton of Clinton, Susan Ryan of Westminster, MA, Jennifer McTigue of Stonington, and John McTigue of Somersworth, NH; as well as 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Connie is predeceased by her brother David Murray and sisters Winnifred Murray and Dorothea Johnson. She is survived by her sisters Sylvia Wooten, Andrea Stuart and Cathleen Pajak, all of the Groton area.
