Middletown- Carol (Fowler) Stanton, of Old Lyme, Passed peacefully with family members by her side at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 19th 2017. Affectionately called “Beach Gramma” by her 6 Grandchildren Justin Desjardins, Kurt Desjardins, David Stanton, Madison Boone, Abigail Stanton, Kayla Boone, she loved taking them all around on the golf cart and to Garvin’s Store in their small tight knit Seaside community of Hawks Nest Beach.
Carol was especially fond of all her friends or “Beach People” as they are called, and looked forward to their get togethers such as Happy Hour on the beach every Friday during the summer. She also enjoyed her time at The Mohegan Sun Casino.
Carol was born in Meriden Ct. She worked in the insurance industry for over 60 years before retiring around 2007.
She is survived by her husband Thomas C. Stanton of 56 years, her son Mark Stanton and his wife Robin, of New Britain, and her daughter Brenda Stanton Boone of New London. She was predeceased by her daughter Christine Stanton, also surviving are Carol’s brother Robert Fowler of Meriden and his wife Donna, and a Sister Nancy Squire and Bill Glick. Carol will also be greatly missed by her Best friend and former co-worker of 48+years, Barbara Cook.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday March 24, 2017 at 11:00am in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Beckwith Ln., Old Lyme. A Visiting Hour will be held on Friday one hour prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00am in the funeral home.
