Allan was born in Berea, Ohio, March 28, 1947, and was the son of Oscar Thompson and Mary Mulik. He has five surviving siblings, Mary Bullock, Nancy Hawkins, Kathy Altman, and Michael Thompson all in St. Petersburg, FL, and Ted and Laurie Thompson of Towson, MD. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Sandra Francis and her husband Richard Stratton of Hanover, ME.
Allan graduated from University of South Florida after his service in the Army in Vietnam. After a brief start in insurance, for most of his career he had his own successful computer consulting business. He was an active member of Bloomfield Congregational Church having many lifelong friends there to this day.
Allan will be remembered as a kind and caring person who loved his family, Sara Elizabeth Boland of Essex, CT and Andrew Paul Thompson and his wife Brandi Kincaid Thompson of Bellingham, WA. He especially loved his grandchildren, Scarlett Elizabeth Boland, 14, and Ian Spencer Boland, 12, of Essex, CT, and Bristol, CT. He loved to be outside working in his yard, golfing, biking, and hiking. He enjoyed taking Scarlett and Ian to the beach in the off season to run and play in the sand and climb on the rocks. His dog, Maggie, misses him and still listens for him to come home.
Just recently he and Sue moved to Old Saybrook, CT, and they were enjoying a relaxed lifestyle exploring this new area. He was active in the Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce where he was recently elected to the Board. He was proud of this accomplishment and was making many new friends.
