He was born and raised in Clover Bend, Arkansas to the late Oscar and Bernice Woodard. After 4 years in the Navy, Bill came to Nashville to attend Auto Diesel school. He worked for UPS for 35 years and retired in 2002. He enjoyed fishing with his son-in-law, Ricky, and watching the Titans.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Katherine Stokes.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Jean Pomeroy Woodard; daughters, Denise (Ricky) Carver and Kimberly Deanne Woodard; granddaughter, Erin (Brett) Gaffney; 7 ½ month old great granddaughter, ClaraMae Gaffney (she’s a dandy!); sisters, Joy Ray and Betty Miller of Memphis; aunts, Opal Bailey, Ethel Milam and Jean Harkrider, all of Arkansas; his brother-in-law (whom he considered his brother) and sister-in-law, Wayne and Teresa Pomeroy; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be at Hermitage Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Dr. Jud Hays officiating.
Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
