Jean was born a Kansas farm girl. She was happier helping her dad with the animals than in the house with her mom. Almena was a small high school, so she was very active. Her senior year she was the band majorette. After high school she went to a business school. She worked in Kansas City before marring Jim, her middle school sweet heart, in the Almena Methodist church. They continued living in Kansas City before Jim was transferred to Bettendorf, Iowa. Two kids in tow, Alan three years old and Tim one. The early years in Iowa Jean was a mom, home maker and worked part time for a chiropractor. She was also active in the Methodist church women’s circle. During this time she became very crafty making things for the church bazaar. Also during this time she took a night course on Bridge. She and Jim were a part of many bridge groups throughout their marriage. Once they moved to Oklahoma she stayed active in the Methodist church and began working retail for a local non-profit, “The Gateway to Thrift.” Jim and Jean continued to be active in bridge groups and Jean took up knitting, crocheting and toll painting. Jim was once again transferred, this time to Texas. Leaving the boys in Oklahoma, Jean had more time to herself. She once again went to work in retail, at a Hallmark store. Upon Jim retiring they moved back to Norton to help with Jeans aging parents. That didn’t slow her down any. She stayed active in bridge groups, taught Sunday school at the Norton Methodist Church and served on the Norton Flower committee. Keeping her hands in the dirt and making Norton a beautiful place with flowers. In all the different locations they lived she was always volunteering to drive and deliver meals through Meals on Wheels. In Norton she also would visit the nursing home and make purchases for the residents.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Louise Gramzow and her brother Robert Gramzow and her husband Jim Williams.
She is survived by her two sons; Alan Williams (Lamont Holley) and Tim Williams (Vickie Williams), grandchildren; Jill Myers (Micah Myers), Alli Woodard (Matt Woodard) and Brad Williams (Lisa Williams), great grandchildren; Amelia Myers, Asher Myers, and Elowyn Woodard.
