Tamara M. Fortner

Tami is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Sue Mitchell; and her brother, Barry Mitchell. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Jason;, her children Evan and Erin; sister, Connie Flatt (Bill); niece, Chelsea Malray (Jeff); nephew, Cody Flatt (Audrey); five great nephews and one great niece.

Tami was born in Dallas, Texas on April 7, 1966. She graduated from Dupont High School in 1984 and Tennessee Tech University in 1989. After college, she worked in the insurance business for a few years and then as a part-time office manager after having kids.

Tami was a loving wife and mom who really adored her family and spending time with them. She had many friends and the personality to always make new ones. She was a light to everyone around her and the life of every party. She loved the outdoors and animals. Over the years, she rescued baby squirrels, opossums, and rabbits and nursed them until they were able to live on their own.

There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Friday, August 23, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at the Hermitage Funeral Home. A Celebration of Tami's Life will begin at 2:00 PM in the Tulip Grove Chapel at the funeral home. Following the service, Tami will be laid to rest in the Garden of Faith at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
