Myrna Ellen Williams Tate, “Coach”, 83, of Hermitage, Tennessee, Class of 1958 Valedictorian of Opp High School, Opp, Alabama, former Director of Music at St. Stephen Catholic Community, Old Hickory, Tennessee, said goodbye to the world peacefully in her sleep to sing before the Lord during the morning hours of December 23, 2023.
Born March 21, 1940, in Livingston Montana, Myrna and her family lived throughout various locations during her young childhood before residing in Opp, Alabama. At the age of 13, she met the love of her life, Michael, of seventy years together. She was a devout Christian, a wholehearted lover of God, a Daughter, a Sister, a Wife, a Mother, a Grandma, a Great Grandma, a Great Great Grandma, and an Aunt. She was a lover of life. She loved her music, her animals, her candies, her pork chops and turnip greens, and would welcome anyone into her home, and into the House of God. However, nothing compared to the love she had for watching her children and grandchildren grow, and the support she gave them was incredibly undeniable, rooting and cheering for them at all their sporting events.
Myrna is preceded in death by her daughter Kimberly Tate Moya, her parents Glenn and Dorothy Williams, her brother Bradley Williams, and her nephew Glenn Williams. She is survived by her husband Michael Tate, Sr, her children Michael Tate Jr, Christopher Tate (Linda), Molly Matheny (Chuck), Timothy Tate (Alicia), Jeremey Tate (Michelle) her son in law John Moya, her sister Denise Haire (Bill), and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great great grandchild, and three nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request that memorial contributions be made to the Dementia Society of America or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Myrna’s honor. https://www.dementiasociety.org/ or https://www.nationalmssociety.org/
