She is survived by daughter, Janet Gilliam Curtis of Old Hickory, Son William H. Gilliam Jr. Grandsons : Alexander Peyton Gilliam and William Maxwell Gilliam of Kennesaw, Georgia.
Preceded in death by husband William H. Gilliam Sr., parents Joseph and Dovie Ballentine Sullivan, five brothers and four sisters, many nieces and nephews. Mrs Gilliam was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Mt Juliet TN. A long time member of New Hope Baptist Church, Hermitage TN. Where she served as Training Union Director, Church Clerk, and taught the ladies sunday school class for many years. She had been employed at National Life, Nashville TN, assisted husband in operating Gilliam Leaseway and retired in 1990 as Budget officer for Tennessee Law Enforcement Academy.
A lifelong resident of Davidson county, a descendent of one of the earliest families in eastern Davidson county. She graduated from Donelson High School in 1941.
She was a wonderful example of a servants heart who loved God, her family and everyone she came in contact with. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother who took pride in her home. She was a excellent cook, enjoyed genealogy and gardening. These are the things she missed as she began to lose her eyesight.
Visitation at Tulip Grove Baptist Church, 563 Shute Lane, Old Hickory TN on Friday, February 2, from 12 pm until 2 pm. The Service will begin at 2 pm. Interment to follow at Mt Juliet Cemetery with Ronald Sullivan, Randy Sullivan, Joe Sullivan, Kenny Cook, Ken Herndon and Bobby Bean serving as pallbearers.
