DORTCH, John M. age 94 of Old Hickory, May 4, 2011. Preceded in death by his wife, Emogene Dortch. Survived by his wife, Betty Jo Dortch; son, John Lynn Dortch; step-daughters, Ginger (Chuck) Gebhardt, Teresa Thomas; step-sons, Dennis Richardson and Gene Richardson; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Mr. Dortch served in the US Army during WW II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He served as president of The Nashville Art League, he will be remembered as a talented artist. Mr. Dortch taught at Hume-Fogg High School, was an accomplished pilot loved flying private aircraft. He was a Charter Member of Harbor Island Yacht Club and spent time sailing “The Southern Comfort”. Mr. Dortch also owned his own printing company for 25 years. One of his favorite things to do was to sit and listen to Opera. He will be missed by many friends. Funeral service to be conducted 12 noon, Saturday, May 7, 2011 in Hermitage Funeral Home Chapel with Betty Dortch & Jewell Howard officiating, interment to follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, family and friends to serve as Pallbearers.
