Janetta Pearl Ison Hickman, age 87, of Hermitage, beloved wife, Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Warren D. Hickman, her parents, two sisters, four brothers, and a great-granddaughter.
Janetta was born and raised in Skyline, Kentucky. She attended the University of Tennessee - Knoxville and worked as a nurse before her marriage in 1955.
Above all, Janetta was devoted to her family and her Christian faith. She was well known for her unwavering friendship, outreach, and service to others. She volunteered her time and talents to churches, schools, scouting, and sports programs in Donelson and Hermitage. Janetta enjoyed cooking, gardening, singing, tennis, and laughing at the funny things in life. With her husband, she was instrumental in the start-up and success of the family printing and manufacturing business, Personality Plus, which became Church Printers of America. Janetta strived her whole life to be a positive role model and to help make life better for those she loved.
Janetta is survived by six children: Joy Blankman (Dave), Judy Myers (Phil), Shelia Denison (Mark), Shirley McPherson (Ray), Frank Hickman (JoAnne), and David Hickman (Donna); 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother.
There will be a gathering of family and friends for Janetta on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM at Hermitage United Methodist Church, 205 Belinda Drive, Hermitage, TN with Rev Jimmy Hendricks officiating. Interment to follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be family. The family wishes to thank The Pavilion of Lebanon, Alive Hospice and Hermitage Funeral Home.
