James D. Vantrease, age 84, of Lebanon, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. James was born April 23, 1936 in Watertown, Tennessee to Walter F. and Dessie Mai (Womack) Vantrease.
Mr. Vantrease was a 1954 graduate of Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Tennessee. He was a long-time employee of Gulf Oil Corp, and Yellow Freight System. He was a charter member of Victory Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Mr. Vantrease was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and sisters, and his grandson, Brandon Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Yvonne Everett Vantrease, his son; Jeff (Carma) Vantrease of Knoxville, Tennessee; his daughter Jennifer (Reed) Williams of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. his grandchildren; Daniel (Kristen) Williams of Smyrna, Tennessee; Nick (Paige) Vantrease of Knoxville, Tennessee; Beka (Jake) Sarmento of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; and Lauren Vantrease of Knoxville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren; Baylor Vantrease of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Ariel and Jacob Sarmento of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.
Mr. Vantrease is also survived by siblings Ethylene Johnson, Linda V. Jones, Geraldine McAdoo, and Gerald Vantrease, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for James will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138.
The family requests that, in celebration of Mr. Vantrease's life, donations be made in his name to Victory Baptist Church Building Fund at 1777 Tate Lane, Mt. Juliet, Tennessee 37122
