James Ward Liles of Old Hickory died Friday October 14, 2022 at the age of 103. James was born in Cornersville, TN to Dallas and Lennie Mae Liles where he grew up and graduated from Cornersville High. James worked as an outside sales representative in the paint industry, having worked for the Briggs Paint Company for many years. In 1968 James met Virginia Patterson in Nashville and they were married in 1969. James had several interests which he loved to pursue. He enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture, traveling both local and abroad and was an avid collector of antiques.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Lennie Mae Liles, a son, Roger Liles, daughter, Mia Liles Hudgens and his beloved wife of 40 years, Virginia Patterson Liles. James is survived by his daughter Sandra (Allen “Skip”) Brown, Old Hickory, TN, grandson Reed (Randee) Brown, granddaughter, Sutton (Tripp) Shealy, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 1:00pm until the Celebration of Life Service at 2:00pm at the Hermitage Funeral Home 535 Shute Ln Old Hickory, TN. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville, TN.
