Mr. Gordon was born on February 21, 1925, in Waverly, Tennessee, the son of Charlie and Lula Gordon. He was married for 70 years to Mrs. Nancy Gordon. He was a faithful member of the Old Hickory Church of Christ and loved the Lord. Mr. Gordon was outgoing and a people person who was given the nickname “Shorty” due to his small stature. He was a World War II veteran who began his barbering career in the Navy and barbered for 72 years at the Village Barbershop in Old Hickory, Tennessee. Shorty also loved playing golf with friends, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Above all, Shorty was a family man and he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Mr. Gordon is preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy, and his parents, Lula and Charlie Gordon; brothers Lehman, Ishmael, Donald, Ray, and Clarence; and sisters Gene and Macie.
Mr. Gordon is survived by his daughter Pam Bixenman and her husband, Mike; three grandsons, Jeff Bixenman and his wife, Renae, Justin Bixenman, and Brent Bixenman and his wife, Sarah; six grandchildren, Emma, Kate, Tate, Whit, Brody, and Lilia; one sister, Shirley Gordon and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at Hermitage Funeral Home on Monday, October 10, 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home on Monday, October 10, 2022, at noon, with Minister Don Loftis and Grandson Dr. Jeff Bixenman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Garden of Peace at Hermitage Memorial Gardens with Justin, Tate, Whit, Brent, and Brody Bixenman, Glenn Bubel, Mark Kursynske, Johnnie Ricketts, and Bob Wright serving as pallbearers. The Ministers, Deacons, and Elders of Old Hickory Church of Christ serving as Honorary pallbearers.
