Horace Wayne Denton Sr.

Horace Wayne Denton Sr., age 83, of Old Hickory, TN passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. Wayne lost his wife Jean of 65 years in August of this year and happily and joyfully met her again as he passed over into eternity.

His name was Horace, but his friends called him Wayne; his sons called him dad, and his grandkids called him Pa. An employee of Dupont for 34 years, Wayne retired in 1997 at the age of 58 and enjoyed 25 years of doing just what he wanted to do. He was the biggest fan of his grandson’s baseball games, loved playing the guitar with his buddies on Friday nights, and singing in the choir at Temple Baptist church. There is no machine he can’t fix, no tool he doesn’t have and those that knew him well know he never had an unkind word for anyone. His boys, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren already miss him like crazy.

Wayne is survived by his sons Wayne Jr. (Linda), and Gary (Dana); grandchildren Brandon (Brynn), Drew (Cassidy), Shelby (Spencer), Kayla (Justin), Kimberly (Austin) and Gary Jr, and 5 great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138 and again on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with his funeral service at 11:00 AM in the chapel with Bro. Gary Bourgeois of Temple Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Denton, Drew Denton, Gary Denton Jr., Spencer Shanes, Justin Johnson and Austin Colson.
