Gregory Richard Theobald, of Hermitage, Tennessee, passed away in his home surrounded by love on May 13, 2021 after a long and hard-fought battle with Leiomyosarcoma. He had just celebrated his 57th birthday.
Greg was born on May 7, 1964 in Monte Vista, Colorado. He graduated from Basalt High School in 1982 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1989.
Greg had many occupations during his life. He was a Marine, a law enforcement officer, a dispatcher, a volunteer firefighter, a construction worker, a truck driver, and a car salesman, but his primary and most important jobs were being a husband and a father. He made friends easily and always looked for the best in people, demonstrated unconditional love and endless forgiveness.
Greg was an avid outdoorsman, with interests in bow hunting, fishing, and a deft touch when tying his own flies. He and his daughter-in-law shared a special connection over their interest in the great outdoors. He loved watching NASCAR on Sundays and riding his Harley at every opportunity. He had an appetite for adventure, whether it was on a snowmobile, a jet ski, in a camper or on a plane to visit his family in Germany.
Greg was predeceased by his mother, Pauline Alice Theobald (Haskins) and father, William Richard Theobald, his sister-in-law Peggy Schriefer, and brother-in-law Robert Allen Flick. Greg is survived by the love of his life, his schatzi, Pauline Mae Theobald, his daughters Jessica & Orione Bean, and Jennifer Theobald, his granddaughters Sydney and Addison, his brothers Bruce Theobald & Melanie Adams, Kevin & Elizabeth Theobald, Brent & Terri Theobald, Bradford & Donna Theobald, his sisters-in-law Patricia & Alfons Farr, Pamela & Sven Kupfer, Pennie & Dieter Zeitler, Paulette & Siat Haskowich, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Greg’s Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 2:00pm at the Hermitage Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at Greg & Pauline’s home in Hermitage. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Greg’s name to Alive Hospice. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be left at the bottom of this obituary by clicking "Add a Memory".
